Today’s opening hours: Universitätsbibliothek from 8:00 to 21:00 o’clock · Teilbibliothek Mil: now closed · Teilbibliothek Jura: now closed
Use HSUfind to identify the shelfmark of the desired work and then take it from the shelf.
Borrow the items via the self-booking system. You will need a valid library card.
Some journals and literature worthy of protection are not freely available. For older journals, place a journal order via library catalogue.
Journals: For journals, the loan period is 3 days for all users. There is no automatic renewing.
Books (monographs and textbooks):
| User groups | Loan periods |
| HSU students | 4 weeks, then up to 3 months grace period if no reservation has been made |
| HSU professors | 6 months, then up to 6 months grace period if no reservation has been made |
| HSU research associates | 4 weeks, then up to 11 months grace period if no reservation has been made |
| Non-HSU members | 4 weeks, then renewing is possible 3 times if no reservation has been made |
Grace period: You may keep borrowed books within this period, unless they are reserved. If a reservation has been made, you will receive an email notification asking you to return the book.
You can reserve borrowed media via the catalogue. The current borrowers will then no longer be able to renew their loan period.
Should the borrowed item already come under the grace period, the borrower must return it within 5 days.
The reservation notification or the return request will be sent on the next working day.
As soon as the item has been returned, you will receive an email notification. Your reserved items will be kept available for 7 days.
Your library account contains a list of all the items you have borrowed, including the loan periods.
Here you can renew your borrowed items and see which media are already overdue or have been reserved by another user (forgotten your password?).
It is also possible to check your stored email address (change email adresse).
HSU members cannot renew loans as this is already covered by the grace period (see loan periods).
Non-HSU members can renew loans 3 times if no reservation has been made.
Return your items via the self-booking system.
Outside the opening hours, please use the return boxes on the ground floor and the 2nd floor (main building, H1). The return booking in your library account will be made afterwards by the library staff.
If you have lost borrowed media, please fill in a lost Item declaration and submit it to the library or send a scan to [email protected]. HSU members can sign the lost book form digitally provided they have a valid user certificate.
You need a valid user certificate for this.
Report damaged media to the library staff.
